Recently we have celebrated World Environment Day 2011 with the theme ‘Forests: Nature at your Service’ on June 5. The special days in June are not finished on that point; we also have another special day to be marked. Friends, please start marking June 30 in your calendar, it’s ‘Mashable’s Social Media Day'.
Social Media Day is global event, a celebration of the technological advancements that enable everyone to connect with real-time information, communicate from miles apart and have their voices be heard. This is the second annual day that people around the world are celebrating together. Last year Vancouver and Victoria, B.C. declared Social Media Day as an official holiday, 30,000 tweets were recorded with hashtag #SMDay, thousands of photos and videos posted on on Flickr, YouTube and Facebook. Besides, Social Media Day events were covered from live cast throughout the world. It is expected that this year’s Social Media Day will be widely popular than the first one.
Last year I posted a simple one line Facebook status on Social Media Day, but this time we are thinking bigger. We, the Xplore International team is now planning to conduct an offline event on the occasion of Social Media Day on June 30, 2011. We will announce details on the program ASAP in this site.
You can also participate in various online and offline events to celebrate Social Media Day 2011 by taking actions such as:
I’m pretty much sure that you guys are much aware about Microsoft Office PowerPoint, it’s a very simple slides playing software used for presentations and one of the core software within Microsoft Office. There is no doubt that PowerPoint is the powerful software from quite long time. But have you thought of any other software similar to PowerPoint or better than that? How about those who are just tired of using PowerPoint from a longer time?
Friends, changes in technology and the way we used those tools are just rife. Sometime it’s even harder to maintain our speed with the changes in technology. But changes may be awesome. Today, I’m writing about the one change that we could bring in our traditional way of presentation. I’m referring the online tool called ‘Prezi’.
Prezi is the flash based zooming visualization tool allows us to create a nicer presentation on web and also on desktop. Since this is different than PowerPoint, it may takes little while to get used to on it. But you may find this cool. To get started is quite easy; you can use the free version that offers 100 MB of file storage on website. First you need to go to the Prezi website, sign up if you are a fresher user or login. Then you can start building presentation online. Further you can easily share your presentation to anyone on the internet.
The following video is the quick guide to use Prezi.
I have tried Prezi for the first time in September 2009 and I found it’s great. Let me just share one of my presentation right now just for an example. There are only few featured used in this quick presentation, but you can obviously use many other features once you get the basic idea. Here's the link http://prezi.com/q7edl8tfforo/cooperative-inqueiry.
I think until and unless you don’t try Prezi by your own, it’s next to impossible to learn this cool tool. You can also download Prezi to your desktop.
Though Prezi could be an interesting and new way of presentation, it requires high speed internet if you are using it online. So consider this important fact too.
Try it out and find yourself how your presentations come out!
Just a quick notice - my next blog will be little different and interesting :-)
I have mentioned about Facebook Page in previous posts quite often. The Facebook Page is one of the easier, faster and cheaper ways to reach your audience. Facebook Page could be the first step in social media marketing for business and nonprofits. Running Facebook Page has a several advantages such as your followers or fans get quick information through your page; you can interact with people easily where location is not a boundary. The page also helps to increase your site traffic by posting anything linked with your original site. Trust me friends, there are many other advantages too.
Despite of the face that Facebook Page has many advantages, there are certain group of people who have less idea on creating and running it. I’m trying to address that group today by sharing a Facebook Page Guide and Nonprofits Guide. Below are the links, I hope you like it.
Yesterday I have posted a blog on Facebook and Gmail Shortcuts. Soon after I posted that, I realized Twitter shortcuts were completely missing. So today I’m writing about Twitter Shortcuts, I hope you like it.
